Who is Wendy Corner?
Driven by an unacknowledged desire to help others be heard, she became a Speech Pathologist. Her specialty? Giving voice to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism – many of whom were non-verbal. She championed their communication rights with passion and conviction. Ironically, she could advocate for them without hesitation, and found it impossible to do the same for herself – whether in marriage, career, or crisis.
For 20 years, she was both wife and carer to a husband battling long-term mental illness. When he died suddenly of a heart attack, she walked into a devastating scene… and felt something she wasn’t prepared for: relief. But that relief came with punishing guilt – another emotion she couldn’t voice aloud.
In the years that followed, she embarked on a journey of literal and emotional decluttering. She handled the passing of multiple family members and the consolidation of three hoarded households into 30 shipping boxes – then relocated across the world from Scotland to Australia. The move wasn’t just geographical; it was part of a deeper attempt to unearth the woman beneath the weight of duty, grief, and silenced truth.
Australia promised a fresh start – until it didn’t. After nearly 30 years pouring her heart into the profession she loved, she lost the ability to practice due to a wrongful accusation of breach of confidentiality. Though she could have pursued legal action, she chose to walk away. The system, she knew, wouldn’t change… so she would.
From that crucible of loss, injustice, and reinvention, a reluctant entrepreneur was born. She had no business background, a shaky relationship with numbers, and internalised beliefs that asking for money was somehow wrong. But something shifted. The old script – “My voice doesn’t matter” – began to unravel.
Today, Wendy Corner stands powerfully in her truth. She is an award-winning coach, multiple best-selling author, international speaker, podcaster, and – quite literally – a global citizen, having lived in ten countries in just 18 months. Her solo book series, Letting Go: Living Lighter, is a raw and radiant chronicle of a woman shedding the weight – emotional, physical, and spiritual – of a life lived silenced. She’s not only finding her voice. She’s using it to empower others to rewrite the outdated scripts that have kept them stuck, small, and silent.
Her work now centres on helping entrepreneurs share their wisdom, their truth, and live unapologetically lighter – inside and out.
